Simon’s student blog#
This is the blog of Simon, student in the 2024-2025 class of How To Make (almost) Any Experiments Using Digital Fabrication
About Me#
Hello world! I’m Simon, born in 1992, I grew up in Brussels and I’m a student in ULB, in the bio-engineering section.
Some key moments of my life#
-
I spend two last high school years in an experimental democratic and self-managed school ‘Pedagogie Nomade’ [2008-2010]
- a place where almost everything was possible and where I learned many things on very various topics
-
I studied sound in ‘INSAS’ [2011-2015]
- enjoyed a lot recording and manipulating sounds
-
I worked several years as a sound editor on movies [2015-2020]
-
With other people I started a project about creating a respectful place of life for old people with lack of autonomy (especially with neurodegenerative diseases) ‘Cabasa asbl’ [2020-2022]
- in this context we followed a formation in ‘Coopcity’ where I learned about differents aspects of social economy
-
I started a bachelor in bioengineering in 2022
- because I like science and I missed learning
- because I needed a challenge to go back on tracks
- with the objective of a Master’s Degree in Agronomy
Digital fabrications#
I already have a little experience with digital fabrication :
- A friend is working in Microfactory (where I was member for some times) and Citiyfab3, he teached me how to use a lasercutter and basis of CNC.
- I retrieved programmable LEDs from garbage and started learning basis of Arduino to control them.
Note#
My native language is French but I’m writing this documentation in English because I want to improve my English grammar and writing skills. So don’t scream if you see a lot of mistakes, this is a first draft and I’m gonna take the time to correct myself in a second time.
